Born in Woodstock, IL (1975), Tara Zanzig grew up in Jupiter, Florida (1986-1996). She lived about a year in Greensboro, NC before moving to Chicago to attend The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1999. Tara lived in Chicago until 2023 when she returned to south Florida. She currently resides in Port St. Lucie, FL.
"Some of my first memories are of drawing in little notebooks you could get at the grocery store. Around 8th grade I started associating meaning to my paintings."
Tara discovered printmaking at SAIC where she connected with the process of screenprinting. She has printed everything from t-shirts to large scale installations and went on to develop her work in a unique style of screenprint, hand embellishment and monoprinting.
"Thematically, my work has explored specific aspects of our human experience through a self-reflective lens."
Media, work and human connection are some topics Tara has examined through exhibition. A broader view of her work uncovers a search for life's meaning through practices and processes. Tara works intuitively, gleaning insight upon contemplation.
"Since moving to PSL, my work has taken a major shift as my focus has been on painting."
